Ben Schwartz is one of those iconoclasts whose many achievements can’t be neatly placed into society’s well-defined boxes. How to define someone whose successes came so early and so often in so many different fields? It’s a herculean task by any measure.
Music was one of his first passions. While growing up, Ben discovered he had an ear for piano, an ear for ‘playing by ear.’ He was able to quickly learn, memorize, and rearrange popular music and play it back on the piano to adoring crowds at malls, sporting events, and parties all over New England. In fact, Ben holds the records as both the youngest organist in the history of professional sports and the youngest pianist ever hired by Nordstrom. He has also composed original scores for five independent films, recorded two original albums, and written theme songs for several online comedy and media projects. Speaking of media projects, Ben has had his hands in many. He’s written copy for The Walt Disney Company, performed voiceover work for LeapFrog Enterprises, and appeared as an actor for the Discovery Channel.
Not content to merely confine himself to the artistic world of media, Ben studied, and studied, and studied some more. What good is a passion for media without a passion for academia? He appeared as a contestant on Jeopardy!, the trivia show hosted by Alex Trebek, at age 11. This genuine Hollywood experience instilled in Ben a lifelong fascination with television production. After a successful high school career, Ben matriculated at Brown University and graduated in 2010 with a double-major in Mechanical Engineering and Economics, whereupon he was offered a position as a nuclear analyst with a major United States defense contractor.
